I have been helping organisations understand how to be effective online since 1998, working with groups and brands such as Bacardi Breezer, GLAD, Microsoft, Mozilla, Pollution Probe, Shift Magazine, SickKids, Sunnybrook & Women's Health Sciences Centre, UNESCO, and the YMCA of Greater Toronto.
I have evaluated the effectiveness of online projects by small businesses, government agencies, and Fortune 100 companies for ten years as judge for the Web Marketing Association’s WebAwards. I have been a member of the competition's Best in Show jury three times.
In 2000 I joined Michael Furdyk and Jennifer Corriero in creating TakingITGlobal, a youth-run organisation which has become the leading voice for young people in United Nations processes and catalyst for global youth action and engagement.
I have spoken at conferences, workshops, ministerial roundtables, and forums in North America, Europe, and the Middle East on subjects such as youth engagement in foreign policy, the role of a common national story in Canadian foreign policy development, the significance of social networking technologies in renewing education, and the impact of social networking on social renewal.
A firm believer in the value of volunteerism, I have spent a decade with Pride Toronto's Safety & Security committee. From 2004-2006 I served as Safety & Security Coordinator, leading the development of the festival's first formalised disaster recovery plan, implementing rationalised volunteer scheduling and roles, and introducing a streamlined supervisory structure for more than 300 volunteer shifts, seven arts stages, five licensed areas, and a sizeable urban festival site.
I'm always interested in new ventures or consulting gigs (online strategy, web design, user experience, and interaction design) - any opportunity to do a little to help you and your organisation be more effective online. Drop me a line with an idea of what you're looking to do and what your budget looks like, and let's get talking.
I know, I know - I'm late to the bandwagon, but these guys are fantastic. You'll most likely recognise track 1 ("The birds and the Bees") from the VW Rabbit ad, and it sets the stage perfectly.

I haven't managed to crack the covers on this yet, but it certainly promises to be a fantastic read. Although I struggled somewhat with The Silmarillion, I'm a massive fan of Tolkien's dream of a uniquely English Mythology.
